Pod taxis for Bangalore

Manjunath Prasad, commissioner of BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar palike) has planned to implement pod taxis in Bangalore. The sci-tec mode of travel will now be available in the city.

Pod taxi is a Public transit system which is a driverless pod runs on electricity, carry upto 5-6 passengers. The first pod taxi was started in Gurgaon. But due to lack of safety issues, the project was delayed. Pod taxis cut the hectic traffic and helps us to reach our destination on time. The pod cars are used only in few places such as West Virginia, US, The Netherlands, UK and South Korea.

The project will cost 50 crore per km. Once implemented, the project will be completed within 6-8 months. The expression of interest (EOI) will be issued soon.

They are solar powered and can carry upto 15,000 people in an hour. It is an environment friendly transport system. This is started in Bangalore to cover those areas which has no proper feeder service.

Areas covered:-

MG Road Metro Station to The Leela Palace junction – 4 km

The Leela Palace to Marathahalli junction – 6 km

Marathahalli junction to EPIP, Whitefield – 6.5 km

MG Road Metro Station to Koramangala- 7 km

Jayanagar 4th Block to JP Nagar 6th phase -5.3 km

Sony Junction to Indiranagar Metro Station – 6.7 km.

This is a good initiative from the government side. Pod taxi will be handy for daily travellers.

Joke of the Millennium…Concentrate on Metro routes and its completion proactively. Following Things to be considered asap
    1. Timely completion of Metro Phase 1 and Phase 2 is expectation from the Public.
    And
    2. Road Widening, Pot Holes Fixing and Effective Vehicle Parking on Roads. These things should be considered to minimise the Road Traffic Jams.

As long as these gets resolved, Bengaluru will be Role model for the world as “CITY OF TRAFFIC JAMS AND POOR PLANNING OF ROADS AND MAINTENANCE”
